I devour inspiration like it's one of my basic needs; eat, drink, sleep, consume inspiration. When this basic need of mine is not met, I feel lost, unsure of who I am or where I belong in the world. The following books and podcasts are the current ones that have steered me back home and continue to serve as the compass helping me maintain my true north.
Untamed book by Glennon Doyle - The prologue to this book not only caused me to pull my car over (I was listening to the audiobook) so I could release the flood of tears uncontrollably falling from my eyes, it's also the inspiration for my very first tattoo (Tabitha the cheetah) - at the age of 46. Glennon's words in this book set me free in my own life. Free to be more authentic, free to use my voice more, free to follow my unique path, free to disappoint others, free to discover what all of that even meant, and most importantly, free to make mistakes along the way. We Can Do Hard Things podcast by Glennon Doyle, with Sister (Amanda Doyle), and Abby Wambach (her wife) - I basically consume any and all things by Glennon. That being said, I don't listen to each episode as it comes out. I turn to it when I am feeling like I have headed off course by a few degrees and need help returning to my center. Glennon, her sister, and her wife have a way of drawing out the truest version of the guests that appear on the show. Every person that shows up in their truth reminds me I have permission to show up in mine. The Way of Integrity book by Martha Beck - Can you imagine not lying to anyone - especially yourself for one full year? That's the inspiration behind this best-selling book by Martha Beck. That's what Martha did and it blew up her life. Yet, the life that unfolded for her when she stopped making herself fit in to the carefully curated boxes her family and society had crafted for her, was true. What she discovered was that freedom can be found in a true life and this book invites you to discover that for yourself. I have yet to make it more than a few days of not lying. It's harder than I thought. And, with each lie I refuse to tell, a truer, more beautiful life opens up to me. The discomfort, fear, and pain melt away as freedom lifts and expands me beyond the limitations of this life. Abraham Hicks short clips on YouTube - Abraham is a collective consciousness channeled by Esther Hicks. Esther allows clips up to 15 minutes long to be shared publicly from her channeled sessions (often while on a cruiseship!). These clips can be found through many different YouTube channels. I have included one of my favorites in the link. Through Esther, Abraham guides us through the reality of the Law of Attraction. I absolutely love starting my day with one or more of these clips. It's a reminder of the power I have to create the life I want by focusing on my best and truest future. At the end of each clip I am left feeling empowered, peaceful, and inspired. I love that these clips also invite me into getting curious about my own feelings - bringing me back into my body which is a place I have not spent a lot of time in throughout my life. Our Next Existence podcast by Katie and The Chorus - I am blessed to know Katie in real life. She channels a group consciousness called The Chorus. Her podcast comes out each Friday and I listen religiously each week. Through the questions Katie has asked of The Chorus about what is currently happening with humanity, The Chorus provides insight into why we are here, where we came from, and how to understand this 'awakening' that is happening among humans. I love receiving clarity around things that have often caused me a lot of confusion and frustration in my own life, especially around why we would ever choose to leave the blissful union of our natural state of being (as a nonphysical entity) and enter this tumultuous, painful, divisive human experience. As the answers unfold, clarity surrounds me in peaceful understanding allowing me to feel even more inspired to discover just how far I can expand beyond the boundaries of my own perceived limitations. That's it for now! I have so many more inspirations to share with you, so stay tuned.
